i remember when me and Bomu met up at Imaf in October, and we were talknig about what is acctually manga, we looked around and we could see many "mangery" pictures, but i was reading yesterday on a naruto site that manga means "visional entertainment" so it's just pictures that people will enjoy.

what do u guys think?

Well, in Japan, manga just means a comic book - yeah, literally translated it means something like random (or whimsical) pictures, according to wikipedia. Same with anime: they use it for any kind of animation, not just japanese.

It's just us who use the japanese word for japanese things

yeah, they use the english word.

Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I heard manga literally translates as "irresponcible pictures", but generally (and you can only ever use the term 'generally' when talking about anime and manga without getting into a 50+ page debate) I'd describe manga as japanese style comics- specificaly black and white and anime as "japanese cartoons".

--I thought it was a little cheeky how so many people entered the International Manga & Anime Festival art contest depite their works seeming to show very little or no obvious japanese comicbook/ animation influence, either in style or content, yet the artists obviously considered it 'manga art'?... Hmm

i thought it waws funny how the name "Manga and Anime" hadn't quite gotten through. ok it was all amzingly good but it wasn't manga or anime.

like one picture that was next to bomu's it was of a robot that was done in sum kinda 3D program, how do u call that manga? ok if it was done in PS and cell shaded or sumthing i'd see a resemblence to GDW but it wasn't.

((i know i rant on about nothing, if it seems like that just skip me ))

Akuro Out.
