Here's something I'm slowly working on. any suggestions of where I should go from here? I thought maybe starlit skies and an animal drinking from the water.

Hey, that looks pretty impressive. If there is one minor problem, it's the lips, I think you should soften the outline a bit more, so it blends in properly. Also, the lines in the water should blur a bit more, looks a bit too sharp IMO. Apart from that, the picture itself looks great, nice work man.
