I'd like to re-open the monthly. When it closed earlier this year, I planned to re-open it in July, but didn't get the chance. The site needs a redesign and regular updates, which is difficult to maintain if you've got many other things on your plate.

I am considering a bi-monthly game character contest with hopes to get it sponsored so there are prize too. But I feel this is a long way off, as it's not high on my priority list. I can't see it running again any time soon unless someone is willing to take it over for at least 6-12 months.
I need to continue work on a new Organic Metal site design. Work on my own artwork. Finish some of the many RPGs and video games I own, on top of other life related issues- girlfriend, work, etc. Just so ya know I'm not slacking.. too much

Once upon a time there used to be half a dozen largish regular Monthly art sites such as Monthly Anime Character, Monthly Anime Alternative etc. But now, practically the only one left is the monthly anime Gaijin: http://www.monthlyanimegaijin.com/ I've entered about 4 times, but the best I've done is come 2nd for creativity

Hey Tri, if you wanted to run the event for a while, that'd be cool! You wouldn't need to give away prizes- the current MVGC never gave anything away and still had people submitting. It's just an idea I'd like the consider for the future providing the event became more popular, as sponsors won't really wanna give away prizes if there's not much interest in the event.

One problem I foresee is lack of submissions. When I was running it, every month was a slow month and I'd often plug the event to fellow fan artists to drum up a little publicity.

You'd need to know how to create html pages to display the entries and update new ones.

I probably wouldn't be able to host the site at it's current location, as my server requires a specific UK dial up or adsl internet connection in order to upload files. However, I can link the new event from the current MVGC home page, so visitors know you're now the man in charge.

If you can see a way around these and you'd like to run the show, go for it!

(html)
(head) (title)MCGV(/title) (/head)
(body)
(/body)
(/html)

thats about your most basic html page

And if we put are smart heads together we could figure something out so i could upload to the sever.Do u use a ftp upload or is kinda like www.angelcities.com thing were they have a built in one ? well i spos we can work out the fine tuneing.

Cool. Providing you're confident creating the pages, that's the main thing covered. Whether you hand write the html or use a WYSIWYG editor is up to you. You can check out my existing MVGC source code if need be.

I'll basically have to leave it up to you as far as new lay out & site design goes. If you wanna keep things the way they are, that's fine. If you wanna use existing graphics or content, that's fine. But as I say, you're gonna have to host it yourself. I upload via FTP, but without dialling in to my web host's server, you'll be unable to FTP to my web space and unfortunately there's no way around this... Unless spending some extra cash on a new hosting service, which allows universal FTP, but I'm not prepared to do that at this time.

If it even matters anymore, I'd be happy to make a design for this and maybe even host it. I'm hardly using my current host anyway, since I decided not to continue the cartoon it was done for.

Meh, whatever.
