Existing characters drawn my way (not copied). I enjoy drawing other people's creations almost as much as making up my own and it's a great way to show homage to a particular character/game/movie e.t.c! Video games are usually what I base my fan art on, unless I get inspiration from a comic or anime character. One thing I always try to do is draw something original - as in, I won't make a direct copy of a picture. I'll change the pose and usually the art style to give it uniqueness. Don't forget to take a look at the pencil, ink and alternative versions of some pictures. I hope you like my fan art :)
